I recently read an older article about North Carolina priest David La Buda helping the youth of Honduras remove their tattoos. Honduras known for a serious gang problem being his main reasoning behind this. He opens the clinic in a poor community of 10,000. The program is called “Goodbye Tattoos” and at the time of this article had removed 6000 tattoos with a goal of 90,000. The priest claims most of the tattoos are Satanic in nature from 666’s to long black serpents ect. He claims that the tattoos are holding back these youths from a better life. OK now this all seems to be a bit absurd to me. A tattoo removal clinic in a poor town of 10,000 people. I do hope they have another clinic/hospital for actual medical treatment. I also hope the children he is targeting are well fed and healthy and have an education. Strange that most of the gangs he spoke of actually wear tattoos of “satanic” as well as “Christian” symbolism or is he only removing the “satanic” ones. Also is it not possible to be a gang member without a tattoo? Seems he is on a crusade against tattoos not gangs. The article even had a quote from a woman stating how the removal changed her life and now she is in school. So basically a tattoo will somehow hinder one’s education? I know of plenty of brilliant successful people with tattoos (myself not included :)lol..If a tattoo does play a part in societies judging of an individual, what other aspects of a persons appearance are being judged?Gang Tattoo What message does it send to people that appearances should be changed in order to be accepted in society? Should ugly people have plastic surgery? I may be crude but I have no such vision of this cookie cutter society as MR. La Buda. I do not advocate violence of any kind by saying Tattoos are OK! Just my 2 cents.

To expand on the above comment. ” Also is it not possible to be a gang member without a tattoo? ” I believe many in extremely conservative cirles seem to think you must be in a gang if you have one.

this is ignorance in the first degree why should you be judged by what you do my sister has 3 tattoos and she finished and passed highly i must add her law degree as did many of the others that had tattos .maybe somone should have advised him that that money from 6000 so far removals could have been used to actually help that as he put it poor community like help pay for actual medical care and schooling books im sure the familys and the kids would have got alot more out of it for there future then a now scar .seriously why should we all conform to like the lady said cookie cutter life we are not all the same and if were ment to the im sure god would of made it that way.he needs to stop assuming and judging as doesnt the bible teach you not to judge others
