Spelling matters!! Well, to some it does whereas others are not so particular. After all, as long as yur messige is understood y wood it maturr!
Names for instance - ask Lesley, Iain, Tracy and Stephen for instance and they’re likely to tell you that they often see their names written as Leslie, Ian, Tracey and Steven but they are probably used to it and probably don’t care (that much!) However, when someone tattoos your body with indelible ink for life - I think people tend to be a little bit more fussy!
I recently read that Hayden Panettiere (Heroes star) has a new tattoo. It should read “Vivere senza rimpianti” ‘live without regrets’ but rimpainti the Italian for ‘regret’ has been spelled with an extra ‘i’. Luckily, she says she doesn’t mind because it is on her back where she cannot see it, although she says that she may get it ‘fixed’ in the future. It has certainly created a lot of attention but maybe not in the way she had hoped!

Apparently Sanskrit tattoos are the most commonly misspelled. I suppose it’s not too obvious to most of us (unless we can translate Sanskrit) but surely tattoo artists have a duty to make sure that they get it right? Even one of David Beckham’s tattoos is incorrectly spelled I hope Vihctoria doesn’t find out !!
Poor Martin Nolan spent £200 and 7 hours of pain having a meaningful phrase tattooed onto his back. Maybe it was when he got home that he found out that it contained two spelling mistakes! It reads “God give me the strenght to change the things that need to change, the courage to accept the things which cannot be changed, and the nisdom to tell the difference” It’s a shame that he didn’t have the nisdom to make sure his tattoo artist could spell. Let’s hope he has the strenght of character to live with it!
Now, it’s not for me to juge (oops) judge but I question why you would want a budgie on a twig tattooed on your back in the first place!
I always thought that tattooists used the back because it was a nice blank canvas. Now I think that there are other, more sinister reasons! If you haven’t checked your tattoos for spelling mistakes already, I suggest you do and maybe get someone else to help you. If you’re thinking of having one done, a suggestion for you - take a dictionary with you !!!
